Default m-audio mobile pre usb

hi

i have read some psots about this on your group and have a question

i bought this pre amp yesterday and it's very very noisy - mainly a
constant hiss

i have tried swopping out cables, mics, having monitoring off,
everything i can think of

still it sounds like someone left the gas on and mic'd up the output
of the oven!

i have a powerbook and simply want to record guitar/vocals into
garageband

i though USB would be a better interface because of the digital nature

i do have 1/8th line in, would that be less hissy? i thought not, as
it must be a cheap line in...

is there a sub200 quid ($400) for recording my little tunes?

thanks in advance

It is what it is, I'm afraid. I have one too, and it has pretty low
headroom, plus hiss. However... if you find the sweet spot, it sounds
serviceable.

I thought the Tascam would probably be better, but a friend who has one says
it's similar. Personally, I would doubt it's as bad. Exchange it for the
Tascam.

Try the m-audio Delta 410 (Firewire). Works great for me.
