Anyone know what is the best tool to use for timestretching audio. All
I want to do is be able to slow down or speed up samples without changing pitch. Tried using the function on the akai 3000xl sampler but have had some unusual results. Many Thanks |

I can tell you about the one in Audition/CE - right out of the box it sometimes leaves a fair number of audible artifacts. Depending on what you are stretching, the artifacts are more or less problematical. However, it seems like doing the stretch in smaller stages helps quite a bit. Sometimes the results are very good. Adobe has said some things about the forthcoming Audition 1.5 upgrade that suggests that time-stretching and pitch-shifting will be improved. You might want to revisit the tool you have with the idea of doing the stretch in several smaller steps. Finally, in many cases the results are going to sound odd, even if the job was done without audible artifacts. |

Have used Melodyne since 2002. Can post more info if anyone has further interest. |

This on percusive material which is particularly artifact prone in my experience. Bob -- "Things should be described as simply as possible, but no simpler." A. Einstein |
