Default 4-banger shoot out: isa428 vs sytek?

Has anyone used these two pre-amps? They are both clean - so I am
wondering how they compare with headroom etc. I need something clean
and airy for drums... to go along side an API 3124+. I am poor...but
I spend ALL my money on gear. So the $600 difference between the
sytek and the isa428 is a big deal...and means I can get more rncs or
something. If all I'm getting by going to an isa428 is big meters and
the fancy box then I would much rather get the sytek. Any thoughts on
this? I have heard good things about both but I can't go out and test
them myself because I'm in Los Angeles and they don't have places like
that here. (If you know of a place please tell me) Thanks.

I haven't used a lot of different pre-amps, but I think my friend's Sytek is
simply amazing for drum overheads. I have a handful of tunes on our band
site with the drums recorded with a pair of Octava MC-012s through the clean
channels of the Sytek, augmented only by an Audix D-6 on the bass drum.
"Summertime" is a pretty good showcase of what I'm getting with a Sytek.

I think I'm correct in thinking a "4 banger" is a four cylinder engine
car, aren't I? Haven't heard that phrase in a while, now that I've
moved from Michigan to snobby poo poo east coast land. It brought
back some Mem-o-rees!

No advice here, but good luck anyway,

Haha...yes! That is where I know the term. I worked at a honda
dealership when I was 16 and must of picked it up there. But I
thought it could apply to 4ch pres as well...I will continue to refer
to them as "4-bangers"

Does anyone know of any good pro audio rental places in Los Angeles?
I know of LAFX but they don't have a very wide pre or mic selection.
Where does everybody go?
