If the source is two-channel (CDs, cassettes, FM radio, LPs,
"2.0" Dolby Digital), then the output will be two channel
(front left/right, with bass moved to the subwoofer if
the recevier or player has been set to do that*) --
*unless* you first apply increasingly common receiver
features like Dolby Pro Logic II, which will
generate output for the other channels, based on the original
two-channel signal.


(* in which case the output is actually 'three channel' or
"2.1")
