The BC 212, 213, 214 family of PNP transistors have been replaced by more recent ones, the 559, 560 family being one of them. All types have an additional letter appended which denotes the collector/base ratio. This letter specifies about the same range at BC213 and BC 559. BC 214 is the low noise version of the BC 213. The main difference between the 559 and the 560 is the maximum Collector- Emitter voltage. BC559 has a minimum Collector-Emitter Breakdown Voltage of -30V (as does the BC 213/214) while the minimum of BC560 is -45V. Noise seems no longer to be critical so there is no special low noise type. HTH Norbert Used a BC559C which seems fine. Originals were dinky little Ferranti ZTX-214C (for Quad 405). I still have some of the little ZTX-304 and 504s ! geoff |
