Hi, I have bought a Sony PCM-M1 and want to know what the best software
would be for taking the data and working with it on a PC? I just want to do basic editing in preparation for making CDs of my concerts and friends recitals. Thanks, Jamie |

I think you may have just posted the perfect first response to all the "what's the best" questions! That would make yours the best response to those on the "what's the best" quest. Good job, Michael. -- ha |

Tracktion works on Macs too. Audacity too, if I recall correctly. Wasn't Garageband bundled with your Mac's iLife package? It's supposed to be part of the deal. -- ha |

Understand I'm speaking from my understanding of what's s'posed to be, and not from firsthand Garageband experience. But it's alledgedly an entry level DAW with both audio and MIDI capabilities, and I can't imagine it's not suitable for basic work. I have read reports that it's a bit of a pig if one needs more than a few tracks, but other than that it'd said to work. I've also read reports that some major artists are using it for sketching, using it's built-in instruments and such. Get Apple to send it to you and try it. It might be all you need. I won't be dealing with it until I make the OSX move for good. Right now what I have works for some value of "works", and I am unwilling to challenge that. -- ha |
