Default AAC compression chips? Other compression chips?

This would be probably a question for J.J. but maybe someone else is
also an expert on mp3 etc.

I'm looking for inexpensive hardware solution (chips) to encode groups
of 6 channel 44/48k signals into streams of preferably AAC. Or WMA or
MP3 or AC-3 if it is simpler.

Any suggestions?

Regards M

This is a good question to ask on the comp.dsp newsgroup.

Arny! Don't help them out that well! They'll start asking all their
semi-OT questions here!
