Default Nuendo & Digidesign Control 24

Hey Guys,

I have a ProTools LE setup in my studio but normally use Nuendo 2.1 as the
weapon of choice for my studio projects. I was looking at upgrading from my
Mackie 3208 to a Digidesign Control 24. I was wondering if anyone knew if I
would be able to use the Control 24 as an analog front-end for recording
into Nuendo. I am not worried about using the controller functions of the
console for my Nuendo software. If they worked graeat, but that's no big
deal. I would just like the upgrade in pre's (and that additional blinky
light factor that every studio owner has to deal with from prospective
clients).

The side benefit, obviously, would be that I COULD use the Control 24 on my
ProTools projects as a recording front-end AND controller. But before even
wasting anymore time thinking about it, I figured someone here might have
that answer for me.

Thanks,
Brian

I don't own a Control 24, but was recently in a studio doing some work on
one. To my ears, the preamps are marginally better than a Mackie VLZ Pro. If
you're buying it just for the preamps, I'd spend my money elsewhere. It does
have lots of blinky lights though.

I freelance on Control 24's every week. They work with ProTools Only
as a controller. Meaning
when I want to use Digital Performer in those studios I can access the
Pro Tools HD's but the Control 24 is essentially just a monitor volume
knob.

If all you want is the pre's why not get a pair of Focusrite
Octopre's. 8 channels of pre's at least as good if not better than
the control 24 for around $1500 with the adat cards.

Just a thought,
Chris
