If the pull up the cable without pulling up the tape first, the tape
will stick to the cable and will have a tendency to wrap around the
cable. If you want to avoid this, shoo away anyone from the AV crew who
doesn't know how to do it correctly, or have someone on your crew
assigned to pull the cables before the AV crew gets there.
The good part about using real gaffer tape is that it will come off the
cable and the floor or rug cleanly without leaving any sticky residue,
unless it's been in place for a few months. By then the stickum might
have stuck where you don't want it.
