Default Fixing HOT Audio?

Hi Audio Pros,

I'm hoping you might have some suggestions for rescuing HOT audio.

I have some recordings with kids that are loud and distorted. I'm familiar with the adage 'garbage in, garbage out,' but I'm hoping there might be some way to lessen/disguise the distortion.

I work mainly in Adobe Audition - does anyone have any suggestions for specific techniques I might try in this program - or any other program?

Thanks so much!

-Sarah
