Here is a website with poems by 72 historical
Japanese women poets focuing on sounds in nature - illustrated with downloadable sound effects . . . the poems include haiku, waka, tanka & kanshi, see: http://www.earlywomenmasters.net/soundings/ Included are numerous black & white illustrations. Also an introduction compares the use of sound in nature poetry to idiophones. Idiophones in music are "self-sounders" -- that is, instruments where the natural material of the instrument itself makes the sound -- for instance, the sound of seeds hitting the case inside a gourd creates music in a maraca. sw |
