Default Shiny new portable recorder.

I've been considering an Edirol R1 for a while, but this looks rather good.
It's called a microtrack. Records to Flash/microdrive.
8 hours battery, 24/96, phantom, SPDIF in, balanced ins... $499.
I wonder what the converters are like?
