Craig Anderton's boon published by Wizoo is pretty good in showing you how to apply the basic tools. But if you want to be really serious about it and start with a book, you'd better start with a book on control room design and construction, and while you're working on that, read a few books on getting financing and making money so you can afford really good monitors. If you just want to tweak some EQ for overall balance, limit peaks, and increase overall apparrent loudness, Anderton's book will get you started.
