While the US uses 60Hz power, that is 120 zero-crossings a second. So
if one were to make a joke about alternating the plug, you would have
to switch its polarity 120 times per second. :-)

The assertion that joke polarity reverse itself 120 times a
second it patently absurd. Remember that he who laughs last
thinks slowest.
