Finished an album yesterday with the very talented Martin Grosswendt No kiddin'. How did you guys meet? His sister was staying at the home of a music friend for a while, and when Martin discovered that people who played folk music hung around there, he came down to visit frequently. Years of folk festivals that we both attended. And recently, Music Camps North where he used to be one of the administrative staff and still is a regular instructor. -- "Today's production equipment is IT based and cannot be operated without a passing knowledge of computing, although it seems that it can be operated without a passing knowledge of audio." - John Watkinson |

His last CD was something I'm very proud of. Fans of his will find this new one to be very enjoyable. David Correia www.Celebrationsound.com |

Did you record Martin's new CD as well, or only master it? Record, mixed & mastered by me. Just like his first one (even tho' he mistakenly also credited our Christine Lilley on it, who didn't even attend one session of the record.) Hey, while I was typing this reply Martin called! I asked him about you and he said you were an extraordinary flat picker in the day. Coming from him, that is quite a compliment. He said to pass on a hello to you. She MUST be better looking than you. ![]() Hey, while I was typing this reply Martin called! I asked him about you and he said you were an extraordinary flat picker in the day. Coming from him, that is quite a compliment. He said to pass on a hello to you. Good thing he qualified that with "in the day." He's much better than I am now, but that's largely because he stuck with music and I got a job. In addition to being a really skilled player, Martin has a very good sense of assimilating musical styles and using what he absorbs very creatively. He doesn't just play what he hears, he makes something new and interesting out of it while keeping all the traditions that go into one of his songs or arrangements intact. Sort of like Ry Cooder (which we both discovered about the same time). Somebody should give him a grant to go to Africa or Cuba. -- "Today's production equipment is IT based and cannot be operated without a passing knowledge of computing, although it seems that it can be operated without a passing knowledge of audio." - John Watkinson |
