Default linn kaber : active wiring question

Just collected a pair of kabers with blown tweeters with a view to
repair and I find something surprising inside:-

Unsurprising:- the back panel is an official Active one (i.e. just 6
terminal posts) with direct wires to tweeter and mid-range drivers.

Surprising:- the bass driver wiring still goes via LPF mounted at
front of the enclosure.

What is going on? I thought the active - passive procedure was to
eliminate *all* passive filters. Am I mistaken? If this was a DIY
botch then how come it has official active plate?

Bottom line: Should the lpf be eliminated or not for active?

How did you identify the Kabers as 'active'?--all Kabers were originally
set up for tri-wiring (at least) and had 3 pairs of connectors on the
back plate.

If Linn can't/won't help you then I suggest an email to Dr Rod Crawford,
he was the designer of the Kabers for Linn and his email should be on
his website http://www.legendspeakers.com.au. I have always found him
most helpful about my Kabers.

Just got through to linn engineering so here is their answer:-

"The filter for the bass driver may be left mounted in the cabinet but
should definitely not be left in circuit"

As I thought. Wonder if this was dealer botch or diy?

1. The genuine looking back plate says "active kaber".

2. The posts for treble and mid are wired direct to drivers (no
filters).

They have - the conversion was indeed badly botched - as I suspected.
