I dont think aluminum is a very good conductor... (some one please
correct me if I am wrong). I was working as a manufacturing process engineer in a plating / electro polishing shop and some of the more difficult contracts involved electropolishing, and welding aluminum. The stuff just doesn't conduct electrons as readily as other metals. The 316 stainless jobs were a piece of cake. I think folks usually use brass or off the shelf zero gage wire for that....??? Heres a 16" long piece of brass stock, that would work for 2 batteries, perhaps the seller has longer ones available? Great thing about brass is its soft and very easy to tap and drill. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=2546109 707 Hope this helps Garrett smullen wrote: I have 3 of the larger optima batteries that have the top post as well as the side posts and I want to make custom Bus bars to go across the top and connect the batteries to each other. I am having trouble finding copper bars in the thickness I want, would aluminium do the trick? There will be one for POS and one for NEG and covers by a plexiglass cover I made for the battery rack.... The bars will be about 2.25" wide x 1" tall x 21" long and have a hole tapped in each end for a set scew and 0/1 guage wire and a few smaller holes on the side for smaller wires for distribution... Will aluminum work, has anyone here done this before? Also want this to look nice as its on a truck I enter in shows some times. |

Something like this... in Brass. Perhaps the seller would be willing to
cur a 26" long piece for a few more $$$. Metal shops usually charge by the pound. Does it have to be copper? I don't think it should have had to be pointed out. If you were a little
more well rounded, you'd have seen the humor. I guess though you are somewhat sheltered in your life experiences, and knowledge. ![]() "Phil Sharkey" wrote in message thlink.net... Use steel flat stock from Home Depot, it will work fine. I know a few

Dear Mr. *******,
No, actually I'm just well enough rounded to know a troll when I read one. I'm done with this topic, but I'm sure that you, or one of your juvenile pseudos will have to have the last word. Who says I'm too afraid to use my real name?
If you were even half-witted you'd have understood that when you said "conductors" and Liz replied Glass or Bernstein that he meant musical conductors. Quite famous ones at that. It was quality, sophisticated humor that I guess was just beyond your comprehension level. It's ok though. It was obvious you didn't know what he was talking about or your reply wouldn't have been "What the hell ... gold is even better". By the way, my name is Kevin Smith, teamROCS member #010. I'll send you my address too if you like. lol Afraid. HAHAHAHA My apologies if you were offended that I called it humor, and you couldn't understand it, but it isn't really my fault that you are either too young, or not intelligent enough to know what liz was talking about. Hey Fatso with unmarried parents,
If this is the most sophisticated humor that you guys have to offer you'll have to do better. Actually it was a pun, gold is the best conducting metal and is also the name of Ernest Gold, a moderately well known composer who's credits include the music for the movie EXODUS. He is perhaps slightly less known than Leonard Bernstein (who was actually born "Louis Bernstein." and changed his name to "Leonard" so that he would not be confused with his cousin named Louis) or Philip Glass, who I'd frankly not consider "quite famous," as he's yet to stand the test of time. My feelings are truely hurt by your words. With no provocation on my part, YOU miss the joke, YOU get frustrated by humor presented in the same vein (perhaps slightly more sophisticated), and YOU retreat into an ad hominem attack. Best wishes, Phil Sharkey |

Its called a type-O... How typical of someone in a newsgroup to pick at the spelling or make some other comment of no help, vs. try to actually help with the original question...
I hope you have the same luck, if you ever have to ask for help. Touché, "fatso" and questions of paternal status aside, you're attempts at sophistication are lacking. Philip Glass, who I'd frankly not consider "quite famous," as he's yet to stand the test of time. I'm not sure what you consider "standing the test of time", but Glass is considered the epitome of minimalist composers, and is renowned for bringing minimalism to the mainstream. Ernest Gold, on the other hand, most certainly has failed the test of time. He's a disappointment to the Second Viennese school who spent his waning years composing music for TV - a field where better composers (William Grant Still comes to mind) have tread before. If you're going to bring up contemporary composers, we can discuss Goldstein, Zimmer, or Williams. However, I am quite sure you're ill prepared for a contest in this area. My feelings are truely hurt by your words. Oh cry me a ****ing river. In one sentence you admit your pugilism, and in the next you feign innocence of the same, all the while making thinly veiled insults with respect to my intellect. You win ... I'm pierced to the very core of my being, sob, the gizzard's
not impressed. Boo hoo, boo hoo, boo hoo. Seriously, I came to this newsgroup about a month ago looking for knowledgeable people concerning car stereo. Most of what I've seen is just ego on parade. In the final analysis is it much sound and fury signifying nothing, proof perfect that empty barrels make the most noise. I'm reluctantly signing off this potentially useful newsgroup. But I'd like to share with most of the users my observation that a few loudmouths are ruining it. I don't care for their (your) game; it's all rather too easy and juvenile, and I can do that anytime I want at Alt.teenage.****ing.contest. I wish I could say that it has been fun, or even entertaining, but I can't. I've managed to waste what little time that I could afford to fritter away, but now more important things call. You can all play your trifling games with each other, pretending to be something you're not, it makes little or no difference to me (or, for that matter, to anyone else). Please, don't bother to reply for my benefit, I'm deleting this newsgroup right after I hit the send button. But feel free to puff out your cheeks and throw leaves in the air, or do whatever it is that you do that makes small men quake and almost desirable women sigh ... because I know for a stone cold fact, that most folks out there will be just as impressed with you as I've been. Best of luck, Phil Sharkey |

"perhaps slightly less known"?
I would say considerably less known, outside certain circles anyway. Only one of the two is truly well-known to the general public and that only if you exclude the vast majority of Gen Y from the population base. Not to intrude, you guys were having so much fun already. But, I felt compelled to question that comment ... Hey thanks for taking time to answer... Did you have a specific part in
mind on Parts express??? I seen bus bars for making crossovers and I saw some at one time that are made to connect several 1 farad "Soda Can" size type capacitors for car stereos...
