Please can someone advise. I have a Griffin iMic and Audacity s/w. I
plug the Griffin into a USB port on my laptop, and the other end into the speaker out port of the tape recorder. I set the Griffin to Line or Mic. Then I start the tape recorder playing and turn the volume up a tad. I then set Audacity to record using Stereo Mix or Line In or iMic USB driver - yet nothing is captured. Please can someone advise. Thanks - Chris Brady. |

Sounds like you haven't properly selected the sound source to be recorded (a function of the operating system) You will need to disclose what kind of a computer you are using (Mac or PC?) and what operating system (version) if you want any practical suggestions. |

ups.com Please can someone advise. I have a Griffin iMic and Audacity s/w. It should work, despite the fact that the Griffin iMic I tested was pretty sad as a recording device. Poor noise and frequency response. I plug the Griffin into a USB port on my laptop, and the other end into the speaker out port of the tape recorder. The Griffen should be set for a line input. I set the Griffin to Line or Mic. Line input is the only one that will work, if at all. Then I start the tape recorder playing and turn the volume up a tad. I then set Audacity to record using Stereo Mix or Line In or iMic USB driver - yet nothing is captured. This should work. The record side of the iMic is probably not that much worse-sounding than a cassette machine. Please can someone advise. Thanks - Chris Brady. You did something wrong, or something is broken. What you're trying to do should work in a mediocre way. |

With the mic plugged in, selecte Edit/Preferences and the Audio I/O tab and check for recording devices. The iMic[1] may show up as a separate device there. Cheers Goaty 1.
