well the fearless leader of this ad hoc group to put on the
concert got back to me. HE got scared when I quoted him prices
for racks stacks and the whole nine yards. HE forgot that I'd
sent him text of a bid we got for necessary equipment to meet

headliner's rider.
HE now understands that he's saving big money with my racks
stacks and labor but my provision of those depends on being 100%
rider compliant or better.

It's a consistant problem with volunteer organizations--most any
not-for-profit, really.
People who live off donations have no conception of the value of
much of anything. They also tend to base purchasing decisions on
"price" rather than "value."
Try explaining to a community theatre group that, yes, these 575W
ellipsoidals cost MUCH more than the 1000W units, but they put out
the same amount of light so it's a long-term savings.

THis is as I"ve found it to be also. tHe planning group meets
Saturday mornings which is not good for me, and it was all I could do
to keep from blowing my top and flipping him the bird as I walked out
of there SAturday. My last statement was "YOu'd best get that certain
somebody who knows with me real fast or decide what you're going to do
or I"ll book a paying show that evening."

TOday was a totally different tune. MEthinks he might've read the
fine print on that contract and decided that maybe he'd better call
his inside expert help after making some other calls and get things
rolling or he was going to have nothing but egg on his face as he
tried to explain to some folks where their money went.

Same thinking sells Yugos and (most) Ryobi tools.

I would tend to agree with that remark.
