Default CD Recorder Recommendations

Greetings,
I'm new to this group and am looking for some professional advice:
I want to purchase a standalone CD recorder for my church.
My price limit is $700.
So far all I'm turning up is HHB and Tascam.
Any recommendations/experiences are appreciated.

No experience with the CD-Recorder in particular, but Marantz has one
too.

Get the HHB, Tascams have long term longevity issues.

Transport gets to acting dumb

Denon and Marantz both make them.

I do believe the Sony CDRW33/66 are discontinued. I think they have
gotten out of the Pro CDR business.

Lite-On LVW-5005, $300. It will record CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW,
DVD+R and DVD+RW. That should be enough! There is, of course, the
assumption that you have mike preamps and mikes.

If you have a PC in the area, I'd advise both recording and editing on
the hard drive, before transferring to the CD recorder.

Check out the Tascam CD-RW4U. It uses standard computer media. It's
compact, reliable, and inexpensive.

Greg,

I asked here on RAP about stand alone CD recorders a couple of months ago.
Some great advice, you can look at it via Google:

I bought the HHB CDR-850. It is great! Easy to use and the end results
is very good.

The only weakness I have found is the headphone preamp is pretty wimpy,
and the detail is really lacking. I run the HHB off my Masterlink, and
the Masterlink headphone preamp is head and shoulders above the HHB.

I would buy another HHB if needed.

I'll second the HHB850. Great recorder. I have been been using a pair of
them for several years.

Thanks for all the responses. I ordered a HHB 830 (successor to the
850) a couple of days ago. Unfortunately they are on a two week
backorder from the factory.

Two weeks is not long to wait. I am very happy with my HHB 800.

Klay Anderson might have some of the HHB 830s in stock if you can't wait.
