Default Control room advice needed!

Hello group,

I've been lurking around here for some time now, learning quite a lot
from you guys. Thanks!

I am in the process of building a control room in my studio. Space is
_very_ limited, but I would off course like to get the most out of it.
As I am not well versed in the world of acoustics I would really
appreciate any input and advice. I've put up the three sketches I've
made so far at these urls:

http://80.111.27.232:7080/controlroom2.jpg
http://80.111.27.232:7080/controlroom3.jpg

Let me know what you think!

Thanks,
Amund

Second one looks promising, where are the doors and windows?

The second example has promise. With the cavity in the back of the room
you can make a nice bass trap too. Run the room dimensions (in all three
dimensions) to determine a desirable ratio before building the walls,
and don't forget to address the ceiling reflections and first
reflections from the side walls. There's a lot to think about with small
room acoustics, more than is practical to spew off here, so read through
some F. Alton Everst books if you get a chance. Even then, without
plenty of practical experience with many rooms, it will still be
guesswork to a certain extent, no matter how "educated" the guess. Then
again, with some talent, the right song and a good performance, you can
make a great record almost anywhere.

Amund,

How limited? What are the proposed dimensions?

I agree with the others that CR2 is the only design worth considering. But
if that room really is only 5 or 6 feet wide by 7 or 8 feet long, as it
looks, it's probably too small to ever get good results.
