I'm trying several virtual instruments using Nuendo 2. Halion and
Orchestral for instance. I've tested my Alesis Monitor Ones in the
same situation and can barely hear any noise (similar effect but
several dbs down)... I still have to try another Power Amp.

I'll bet that what you're hearingis on your source. Why not try
listening to some commercial CDs through the speakers?
