You aren't forced to read the posts. And politics affect all of us.
Hate the game, not the player. You can filter away the threads just as

****ing in the pool? How hard is it not to read something?
These threads obviously have to do with the elections that were supposed to
be 'the most important ever" or whatever.
They will die down soon enough and we can beat the ol' digital versus analog
crap again... or feel superior over someone asking "what mic is best for
under $200".

Regardless of how benign it might seem to you and others, it's still
annoying to the people who find it annoying. I think what compounds that is
that a lot of the people who don't think it's problematic refuse to
acknowledge that those offended might have a valid position.

My point isn't to police the OT threads, but that it shouldn't be surprising
when people object to them.

I hope so, I think. It not like the daily "best mic for under $200" barrage
was that much better. Oh well.

Isn't there an alt.politics or some similar newsgroup, where such

meaning anymore?

Unfortunately that is exactly what some of the regulars here have
been saying for at least a few months now. They were saying that
things would die down once the election was over, and yet the OT
political stuff is just as bad as ever (if not worse).

Those who are unable to govern their own behavior are unconvincing

Point taken. But if the world, our former allies, and the U.N. could just
not look at Bush and Bush wouldn't affect them then your point would weigh

You know, when someone is being rude, and then someone else says,
"Hey, you're being rude," and then the first person says, "No, I'm
not, there's something wrong with you if this bothers you," this
does not make the first person not rude; instead, it makes them
doubly rude.

I'm honestly a bit ticked with the continuing level of off-topic
political stuff. The election was over two days ago. As so often
happens in elections, one of the candidates won and the other lost.
(And, this time, the Supreme Court didn't even have to get involved.)
As it turns out, many of the races were decided opposite to the way
I personally voted, including the presidental race. But that's life.

More to the point, what reason is there to continue to discuss it?
It just makes one look like a spiteful person who can't accept defeat
with any kind of grace and instead has to continue to whine on and on
about things that are in the past and can't be changed.

I have a deep desire to understand what is going on to our country and I
relate with audio people in general. It felt like a good place to learn.

I mean... most of these people don't even realize there is a pentagram in
the design of Washington D.C. Not only a pentagram but a devils/goat head,
and compass.

And we haven't even gotten that far yet.

But yes, it is off topic for this audio NG.

Lets get back to something more solid, like people's opinions of what the
best gear is.

Hev,

You have an invalid input/output config.

The correct newsgroup for that is rec.audio.opinion, not rec.audio.pro.

Some would like us to believe that newsgroups have titles and charters so
that nobody can tell the difference among them, based on their actual topics
of conversation.

I don't care about a few OT comments, but when the discussion is 25-60% OT

I'm on dial-up and retrieve a list of articles for the newsgroups I
wish to read, my offline reader connects with my isp over dial-up and
downloads those I've selected.

NO I won't go to DSL until I can afford to get another machine going
running linux to be the internet machine around here. OTherwise this
old dos box is gonna be it. finding a cd-rom drive with linux drivers
is going to have to wait right now as I'm paying my lady's health
insurance premiums through cobra to the tune of $300 a month and then
paying her big drug bill too, she's diabetic with a heart condition
etc. NEedless to say this old musician/audio guy goes without any
kind of health coverage, and without a few other things too while this
is going on. HOpefully she finds another day gig soon which provides
her health care coverage.

HEy but she's over 50, white and her kids are grown. She's done her
duty to the party and bred some more people so according to these
right-wingers people such as she aren't important. THis old
libertarian wouldn't mind that so much if they didn't go out trying to
stifle civil rights etc. the way they do.

Until the budget affords it meanwhile I'll continue with my dial-up
connection and offline reader. There just aren't the dollars for
anything else at the moment.

Now that your election is over, can you put this to rest for the next 48
months, please?

Okay, but what about air cooled vs. water cooled debates?

So long as Robert Pease is in the debate, those are fun.

You need to update your scorecard Eric. Windows is in the lead with 98
points now.

144 new posts since I logged on last. 118 of them unread because of OT
politicaly oriented subjects.

If you talk about audio in this newsgroup, don't tag on to an off
topic message. You will be ignored (by more than just me).

You aren't forced to read the posts. And politics affect all of us.
Hate the game, not the player. You can filter away the threads just as
easily as the posters.

The newsgroup charter states that OT posts are not allowed.

Hey Hev, send me your address. Next time I need to take a crap I'll come
over to your place and take a dump on your front lawn. Don't worry, you can
step around it.
