What is the function of an equilizer in a audio system?
I am planning to buy an audio system and a few shopkeepers told me that an equilizer is not really necessary. They claimed that the bass/treble knobs are sufficient. -- Mayur |

For example a 10-band equalizer has ten different frequencies instead of just 2 (bass and treble). This lets you modify the frequency response of a specific part of sound that needs adjustment. You don't need an equalizer in most situations. Purchase the system without the equalizer and then if there frequency response problems you are having, you can always get one later. Based on what the salesman told you, I am wondering what other things he said that may not be true. |
