But it's pretty well established that feet break snakes. The traditional
way of protecting is with a plastic "runway", a fairly heavy plate with a
cableway on the underside. A runway would be too heavy and bulky to
include with the kit.

Has anyone found methods of snake protection via easier-to-carry means?
