Default Cassette Recording Speed and Quality

Is it true that a cassette recorded at a faster speed will have a
wider frequency response, richer S/N ratio, and an overall better
quality than a cassette recorded at a slower speed?

Sure, and there are some cassette machines that work at 3 3/4 ips instead of
1 7/8 ips to get better sound quality. Most of them are used for audio
production work.

Trouble is, you have to play a cassette at the same speed it was recorded,
and just about all cassettes were recorded at 1 7/8 ips.
