Get somebody else's ear in there or you're likely to make the song the same.
I have to agree with Peter on the 80s era sound. Not the sound quality, the
sound the song presents. As far as the actual recording, I don't believe it
could hurt to have a go at a redo. I've slowly been doing the same thing
with my songs, which includes REAL Piano sounds from a Kurzweil, not a synth
(action, etc.), new mics, amps, guitars, bass to play with. And a
limitation on my voice I wasn't presented with the last time I did them.
They come out different songs, but the song generally comes out the same, if
that makes any sense. Meaning that they don't seem to lose any of what I
perceive as impact.

Peter I am thinking about remaking the song. I still think it has a
pretty good groove. With all the newest toys and a kick-ass drum/room.
Same drummer, same singer/guitarist. With years of wisdom added.

I liked that one on a rock-guitar, it was so easy to turn the
knobs and get a useable sound.
Thin.
Compared to modern productions yes, compared to some of the old
stuff I did back then ehmmm.. No, not really :-)
