"The situation in Afghanistan is "serious and deteriorating,"
Washington's top military officer said on Sunday.
"I think it is serious and it is deteriorating, and I've said that
over the past couple of years, that the Taliban insurgency has gotten
better, more sophisticated in their tactics," Admiral Mike Mullen,
chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, told CNN.
**Your attempts are re-writing history, are duly noted. Just a short
reminder:
Dubya invaded Afghanistan, along with a bunch of other nations. Then Dubya
cut resources to the Afghan war, in order to pursue his own, private
agenda,
by invading Iraq. A nation which has never posed a threat to the US. Dubya
was roundly criticised at the time, for diverting resources away from the
Afghan war. Now, Obama has been charged with the job of cleaning up
Dubya's
mess. It is an uneviable, thankless task, given the economic mess Dubya
left
the US in.

Yes, Dubya invaded Afghanistan but the reasons for invading it, namely the
harboring of Bin Laden et al have long since passed. So, why are we there?
Just what is it that Obama thinks he is going to clean up? That **** hole is
not in America's interest. So, why are we there? We screwed it up at Tora
Bora allowing Bin Laden to escape into Pakistan. That should have been the
end of it. If you really want to catch the bad guys, you have to go where
the bad guys are and that's not Afghanistan at least not now. As evil as the
Taliban are, they are not our fight.
