I agree with hop's assessment. Those two uber-losers are the most alike, at
least in behavior.
At this point in duh-Scottie's "Usenet career", I think we should
acknowledge that the pooch just isn't all there. He's not nearly as far gone
as the Krooborg (who is?), but the markers of a mind that's less than fully
functional are patent and numerous. One pattern is Witless's tendency to
carry on a 'discussion' by substituting his own words for those of an
antagonist. It's been suggested that Scottie does this just to be
provocative and obnoxious, but I'm not so sure. We've all seen his other
common 'discussion' behavior -- his inability to understand the actual
replies he receives from Normals. The latter pattern is marked by a louder
and stupider repetition of what he said before.
I think if you consider the reliance on strawmen in conjunction with the
uncomprehending repetitions, we're looking at a mental defect. Possibly
Asperger's alone, or possibly something else as well.
This is an interesting point. I find myself wondering whether 2pid's
issues are functional (physical) or developmental.
GOIA's issues are probably in a large part functional. There's no
doubt a short somewhere in his wiring harness. The other environmental
part is overwhelmed.
2pid, OTOH, has aspects that seem more like stunted personal
development. While that does not rule out some purely functional
issue, it does open the possibility of other factors.
Consider, if 2pid's mother drinking and smoking during pregnancy
didn't create some physical reason for 2pid's behavior like FAS,
perhaps her neglecting him as an infant while she was passed out
created the defects.
I can imagine poor 2pid, lying in his well-filled Pampers amid the
liquor bottles and cigarette butts, crying for food and attention
while his mother lights another cigarette, takes another shot and
changes the channel.
If you look at 2pid today he's still crying for attention.
