a political party with many competeing
factions, each one having particular interests.
I would characterize the democratic party being the same.

I'm looking forward to the Obama presidency. So far he looks focused,
organized, and willing to put partisan bull**** aside for the good of
the country.

It'll be a very welcome change from the "aw, shucks" republican
'integrity' and 'moral compass' of the last eight years.
