Inline Volume Control for Headphones

Does anyone know of a good third-party product for adjusting headphone
volume when the headphones don't have a volume control (which most, sadly,
do not)? I record myself so I just need some passive, inline, thing. No
headphone box, etc. The out I have is fine, it's just that I'm not always
near it and you know what a hassle it is to have to move the mics, etc.,
just to get up and change the volume. I do remember some headphones used to
have inline sliders (not the knob on the headset). Radio Shack has a flimsy
(read: if you breathe on it will break) volume control (about the size and
shape of a lima bean) for Walkmans but it's 1/8" and something like 24-gauge
wire.
I-3 Audio's "Mission Control".
