Percentages

Tower is gone. Virgin is gone or on the way out, depending on your
location. What percentage of your music (in whatever format) buying
would you estimate takes place in brick and mortar stores these days?
Hmm. Interesting question:-)
About 50% of my new aquisitions are pre-release or review
copies. 20% come from bricks and mortar stores (I know
the owner and so get a generous discount) The rest come
from on-line ordering (vinyl from Elusive in the US for example)
I have no illegal copies, neither do I bother with .mp3 dowloads

Iain
Iain you're the first one to mention MP3 downloads. I will quite often
download an MP3 of an album to see if I like it before I buy it on line. I
use it as a way to demo the album before purchase and if I then buy it I
delete the download and if I don't buy it (because I don't like it) I still
delete the download.
BTW I buy most of my vinyl online, 100% of SACD/DVD-A online and 50/50 CDs
online or in stores. The only reason for the store buying is I love to
rummage through the bargain bins ;-) e.g Recently I picked up a couple of
Syd Barrett (RIP) CDs for approx. US$3.00 each
Cheers TT
