So now it takes a few days to get the stuff in the mail;
no big deal, I guess. ?I'm still sad about what we are
losing though, in terms of human interaction with
like-minded hobbyists, etc.

I agree - and I love physically browsing through records
and discovering something unexpected that I wind up
bringing home. Browsing on-line just isn't the same.

There's also a social element for me. My favorite record
store in town is a place that I'm comfortable just
hanging out at, and the owner is quite happy to play
anything that's already open. I get to discover a lot of
music that way.

I used to live a few blocks from Tower when I was in LA.
I miss the ability to read about a recording, run over to
Tower, and be home listening to it, all within a space of
10 minutes.

As compared to reading about a recording, logging into iTunes, and never
leave home in order to listen to it, all in a space of 3 minutes?
Admittedly, one doesn't get a lot of dates on iTunes. ;-)
