Default Patrick - Modifying OPTs

Patrick,
I have a pair of, what I think are fairly cheap OPTs for SE EL84s. They
look to be quite well assembled though, with decently thin laminations.
It looks as if they don't have interleaved windings though. In your
opinion, would it be worth my while stripping them down and rebuilding
them?

Laminations are 65mm x 55mm in about a 21mm stack. I can't really tell
'cos they are bolted down at the moment. I'm assuming that the core is
about square.

I'm considering putting some temporary turns round the existing windings
(there's room), putting some AC on the primary and getting a "turns per
volt" figure that I can use when rebuilding. Would that make sense?
