Yes and when I recorded using the back side of the ribbon today, there was
even more HF. I'm putting up that version to the same folder today just for
comparison.
Even more HF could easily become way too much HF.
I am now reconsidering a lot of my thoughts about ribbon mics based on this
experience.
You should try the AEA ribbon mike pre. I suspect you'll find that it
sounds pretty much the same way, since it also has a very high-Z input.
