I'm afraid I'm not going to be able to get much closer, I just don't know
the specific gear well enough. Are we closer on the mic or the preamp? I
*think* I'm hearing some harmonics down low that make me think tube, but I
also know that AEA's TRP ribbon preamp is FET, probably transformerless,
so something doesn't quite add up for me.

OK, just one last guess, AEA TRP and AEA R44. I figure if it were the R88
pair, you would have made a stereo recording of the guitar, but it's mono.
So I'm thinking maybe I'm hearing the transformer in the R44. Otherwise, I
give up.
