Someone shipped me a mic and preamp to play with. I think they play well
together.

I have uploaded two files to my online archive and put them in a folder
called Mystery Mic and Preamp. These are raw wav files, no EQ or nothin'.

Can you tell me what they are?

No. But the mic is directional - I'm guessing cardioid. The vocal
track was close-miked, as I could hear from the honky, nasal quality.
In fact I had to use my "10cm cardioid eq" setting to get it sounding
reasonable, so I think you were recording from no more than six
inches.

The guitar track had a much flatter sounding vocal at the beginning
but the guitar was a touch boomy - it needed the 30cm cardioid eq to
get that right.

Unfortunately even after a bit of conditioning to make them "right" to
my ears, I can't say whether they are good or bad, because I haven't
heard you or your guitar in person.

Close?

Hang on - I think I may be changing my mind about the pattern. The
vocal on the guitar track sounds an awful lot like it close to the
null of a figure-8 mic, maybe even slightly "round the back". Is it?
