A friend of mine picked up a bunch of old LPs, including some boxed
sets. Many classical, some kids' albums. He's not into vinyl, so I
suggested he put them on ebay. Anybody know a site to find out market
value of classical LPs?
This sounds like what you're looking for.

I have a sealed Steely Dan MFSL "Katy Lied" LP. This site has one
listed at $153 and another at $305. This is why I think ebay is valid.
I've seen this LP go for $100-200 on ebay.
This simple site gives a bit of insight into the difficulties in
determining
collectibility of an album.

Making a list of the collection and contacting dealers for offers is one
way but they'll want to cherry pick all the good stuff, lowball and offer
and leave him with junk not worth the cost of shipping.
Once for the hell of it I loaded about 30 MFSL LPs into a box and
brought them to Half Price Books to see what they'd do. They offered
me $30 for all of them.
Wow! That's ten times what they would offer for regular issues.
Still not a great deal.
The sealed "Katy Lied" LP was in there, as was "Close to the Edge" by
Yes, "Deja Vu" by CSN&Y, several Beatles titles and "Aqualung" by
Jethro Tull...
$30 seemed a bit low to me so I passed.
Think of the joy you'd have brought to knowledgeable shoppers.
