I need to send audio from an iMac G4 to a phone line for a system we
have set up at my high school. I'm wondering what kind of adaptors or
equipment we will need? We have a stereo mini jack connector, multiple
USB and Firewire connectors. We do not require stereo audio as our
system can only handle mono.

Could someone please help us?

You need a coupling device, speaker or phone patch. You could use a regular
phone.
It seems like you could do it with a computers built in modem if the hardware
and programming are right.

Cordless phones often have a phone jack for mic and headset.
You would need a resistive attenuator, fairly simple, and there would be
no ground loops if the handset was off the charger.
