Regardless of wire ga, this is not necessarily true, adding a cap will
not always help things.

"There will always be a fuse between amp and cap."

Again, not true, not all amps have an inboard fuse.

"If the amps are far apart, I would put the cap next to the subwoofer
amp."

Depends on what the point of you having a cap is, dimming issues you
would want to put it on the subwoofer, but it still might not work. It
may help to put it on the the other amp, to in simple terms "level
things out", but in your system that probably would not be a concern.
