Lots of older apps have problems with dual core cpus, and even
hyperthreading on single core (older versions of giga for example).
Check the bios for a setting to disable the second core and I bet you
will be in business.

Another myth. But it is completely understandable how, if you haven't been a
programmer, that you don't understand it. You can be a very intelligent
person, and still not understand.

Hi Bob,

I've been a programmer for the past 23 years, but that's not really
important here, that's more of a response to the stinging blow to my
ego, hahaha :-). I am basing the idea I posted on two things:

1. Explicit instructions in Gigastudio 3 to disable hyperthreading in
the bios.
2. Experience with the Ensoniq PARIS daw, which will not run reliably
on any dual core CPU unless the second core is disabled in the bios.

Some of you here will remember me from back in PARIS days. Ove the
years I ported a number of plugs from the Ensoniq COBRA environment
from the DP/PRO, which required learning the proprietary and closed
ESP2 DSP assembly language from details gleanded from the patent
(USPTO) , and programming GUIS in C++ and assembler. Several of the
original Ensoniq developers assisted with this. We also created WDM
drivers that allowed paris to migrate from Win9x to XP, and kept the
platform viable for a couple of years after EMU dumped it. More
response to the stinging blow to my ego :-)

Anyway, I try not to post junk, and derive technical advice from
personal experience.

Chuck
