Can you give a link of a serious comparaison between the ATRAC3 (file

Thanks.
I have not run across a listening comparison. I presume you are
interested in a comparison at bitrates of about 64 or 128 kbit/s.
You may have to perform your own comparison. You can freely download
ATRAC3 software for windows (see the following page):
http://www.minidisc.org/mdlpfaq.html#_q66
MP3-Pro and WMA encoders are also freely available for download (note
that the latest Windows Media Encoder only works on Windows 2000 and
later). Also, Microsoft doesn't supply a decoder, but dBPowerAmp works
fine for this:

You can use this utility to perform comparisons:

I recommend encoding at least a dozen different samples of music that
you like to listen to. You'll have to decode back to WAV to use the
ABC/Hr utility. When you finish, you can run the results through this
analyzer:
http://ff123.net/friedman/stats.html
to find out what your preference is for the test suite you constructed
(choose Blocked Anova analysis), although you should probably have a
pretty good idea of what you prefer without having to run it through a
statistical analyzer.
Sounds like a lot of work, eh? That's why it's hard to find serious
comparisons out on the net.
