it says right there on the picture
* STANDING SOUND WAVE IN A PIPE*
and it also has the ends of the pipe labeled
* OPEN END and CLOSED END*
What is it about this picture you dont believe???
There's no sound source.
It shows a sound wave in the picture Tom, that does mean
there MUST BE a sound source.... are you on drugs???
The 'wave' just magically appears out of nowhere.
the SOURCE is notimportant!
What IS important is there is a sound wave moving from left to
right and the reflection moves from right to left creating a
STANDING WAVE.....
If the source iis located at the 'open-end' then that end isn't 'open.'
why not?
the source could be anywhere....
All thats required is that sound enters the tube!
SOUND DOESNT HAVE TO BE BEEMED INTO THE TUBE
IT CAN BE ANY SOUND FROM A MILE AWAY EVEN!!!
WHAT makes you think if a speaker isnt attached to and sealing
the end of the tube that sound wont enter the tube????
If sound happens 50 ft away does that sound not enter the tube
TO YOUR FKIN EARDRUM????
Wake up Tom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh christ; this is funny. What source 50 feet away is going to build a standing
wave in your tube at 60 Hz?
And if it did why doesn't it just come back out. You're talking about a 50 mSec
travel time so how does the source get back in time to form a standing wave at
60 Hz or lower?
Never thought about that did you? But even so; your basic advice about woofer
direction seems to be bull****. I've posted some relevant data. You have some?
