Default Microphones and microphone preamps

Let's compare microphone closets and mic preamp
collections...

I've done a couple of modifications to my ART Pro MPA
and like the results.

What were they?

Purchased highly sorted RAMs, Sovtek 12AX7 from:
http://www.tubeaudiostore.com to replace stock Penta-
China tubes. Installed a calibrated dial indicators. This
is nice because I can log different settings for gain and
output depending on the application and preference. Also
replaced the unshielded power cord.

Not answered - question about Powell's microphone
collection

I’m relatively new to digital recording so I don’t have the need
for an inventory of microphones. Currently using AKG C 420
for Dictation Dragon and two Shure KSM 27s for project
narration/voice over.

Looking forward to doing some
direct comparisons with a George Massenburg 8302,
Millennia HV-3, Great River MP-2 and Universal Audio 2108.

I'm looking forward to winning the Michigan Lottery, but since
I make a habit of not buying tickets...

Business expense.

Didn't know you owned any high end microphones.

What makes and models are they?

It's a matter of public record, and referenced on RAO a
number of times:

Quack, quack, quack... can't get off your penguin butt?

http://www.pcabx.com/technical/sample_rates/index.htm

From site: "2 B&K 4007 1/2" condenser microphones powered
by an Audio Technica phantom power unit, preamplified using
a Benchmark Media mic preamp..."

Is this the model by DPA 4007 ($1,700)... omnidirectional?
http://www.sonicsense.com/dpa4007.htm Site indicates
best use for "drums, percussion and bass instruments"
Appears to have a limited use.

So much for your "microphone closet."

I've compared those to Behringer ECM 8000s, which has
contributed to my opinions about higher end microphones.

Behringer ECM-8000 measurement microphone, $43.00

Truely, high end ;-).

That, and comparitions between MXL
603 and some AKG C414 BXL in cardioid mode.

MXL 603, condenser instrument microphone, $99.00
AKG - C 414 B-XL II, 1-inch large-diaphragm, multi-pattern

I've considered adding an Eletro-voice RE20 (dynamic
type)... but hesitant about mixing it with Shure KSM 27s
sound field for voice over.
