Default Need to use Reel to Reel.

Recently I have located some source material that I want to copy and
retain. It is on old open reel tapes.

My first attempt to handle this was to try to resurrect a Sony TC-366
unused for several years. It will wind and rewind but not play.

What is wrong? Is the capstan engaging and turning but not pulling the tape?
Maybe the idler wheel.

Heres a refubed one on e-bay. Maybe the seller who does refurbs
can help.

Does this machine have 3 motors (seperate ones for capstan and reels)
or one motor with a complicated clutch?
IME...seperate motor machines are easy to fix if the motors work.
Single motor are tricky.

What are my best options to copy these tapes? Should I try to locate a
working Reel to Reel machine? Would it be worth trying to locate
someone to repair my TC-366?

I'd fix it. If it worked recently and then just sat it probably
a belt or rubber part that needs replacing. They can take a set
or in some cases...just dissolve and turn to mush.
