Hmmm. Well, many folks drive 63s and 988s with SETs. At the risk of
stating the obvious, I suggest you bring in some Quads and try your
amp with them, see if you like the results. I can't find a schematic
for the LK-48 to see how the output is configured (still looking). The
output transformers have a nice stack of lams, which is a promising
sign. Lemme know what you try.

I've already owned a pair of 988s for years now, and I have them hooked up to
the Scott as we speak, and I'm testing you. Yes, Devil, that's it! I KNOW if
