It depends on the mat as well.
Clamping the record vastly to the platter and mat, should it make
easier for vibrations to be attenuated.
Don't use a heavy clamp, use one that has to be tightened by a
screwing movement.
Heavy clamps can ruin the bearing of your platter, if it's not
designed to handle the extra mass.
