From what I hear the early music lute crowd is split on this. I
expected unanimous condemnation.
I suspect you are encountering the "any publicity is good publicity"
phenomenon. Many times I have been to the Wigmore Hall to hear Emma
Kirkby accompanied by Anthony Rooley on lute, and it sounded nothing
like Sting and his crooning (thank goodness).
