Ray Charles, in his prime, was bigger than life. Reagan, in his prime, was
a third-rate actor.

It was sad to see Ray Charles onstage in L.A. (where we saw Brian Setzer
together) a few years back - he didn't have his own band with him, was
attempting to do some major variations on his singing style for some old
favorite songs, which didn't work at all, and he was beginning to lose his
golden voice. It saddens me today to know that he only had a few years left
that evening.

I miss him - Ray Charles, that is.
