Hi,

I am currently using a 30wpc Luxman LX33 Tube amplifier with Vandersteen

1C
speakers and a Panasonic DVD/CD Player DVD-F65 5 disc changer. Will
upgrading the cd player make a big difference in the sound? What is a good
cd player with a warm, sweet sound for jazz? Thank you.

Alon...

I generally tend to differ very much with Mr. Krueger...however, if
you are searching for a rather cozy sound...high end rolled off,
etc..then his recommendations are in place here. Also, note that a
trial of a good solid state amp with your speaker set up might be in
order.

If you prefer a really decent CD/DVD/SACD player, then the
Pioneer 563A player is worth looking at. Available at Best Buys,
Circuit City...maybe around $139 now. The image is a bit flat
emanating from the speakers compared to some of the rather
expensive players. However, this is not a real problem...all
depends on your audio "sense of values"..everyone differs here!

Mind you this player is outstanding on a good High Definition TV
set...all this decent sound and outstanding picture for less than
$150..can't beat that. These types of Audio Components are
becoming a "commodity"...everyone can make them cheaply
and use really good internal components also! The $5000 units
will contain many of the same components as this $150 unit.
These components flow from the "Pacific Rim"...everyone
uses them..none better nor less expensive.

Good luck,

Leonard...

P.S. The Pioneer also plays all the popular Computer generated
formats..a real plus if you fool around in the PC arena.
